A pioneer modern artist, Goh Beng Kwan (b. 1937) is known for his contributions to Singapore’s art scene with his abstract collages that utilise everyday materials. His work has been featured in over 120 exhibitions across Asia, Europe and the United States, and is in private collections locally and throughout Asia.

As 2022 marked his 85th year, ‘#GBK85’ was a 10-day retrospective exhibition on Goh Beng Kwan’s oeuvre. The show, organised by ARTAF, took place at Conrad Centennial Singapore from 20-29 May 2022. It featured 85 artworks that ranged from ink paintings to NFTs, showcasing themes Goh Beng Kwan frequently explores in his practice such as cultural representation, urban change, and identity.
